Planting a vegetable garden is a chore within itself, why struggle when you don't have to? Save yourself lots of headaches and stress and buy the right tools for the job. These tools can be purchased at any home improvement center or garden center. Most discount stores like Walmart also carry these tools in their garden center.
A spade shovel for digging holes-make sure any shovel you buy has a long handle. This will save the wear and tear on your back.
Gardening gloves are a must, especially for women that don't want to get dirt under their finger nails.
V-shaped hoe- great for cutting out the rows for planting the vegetables.
Wheelbarrow-one of the must haves for your garden. A wheelbarrow is great for carrying weeds and plants to your garden area.
A compost barrel for putting the dead plants, leaves and unwanted vegetables in. These will rot and you can add the compost back into your garden for compost.
A garden hose, nozzle and sprinkler for watering the plants. You might also want to consider using a soaker hose for those areas in between the vegetable plants that need watering.
A vegetable fork, for digging and lifting out the vegetable plants you need to transplant or harvest.
Baskets of all shapes and sizes for putting your vegetables in for carrying in the house.
A rake, small hand trowel, and bucket are some extra tools you might also need.
There are endless tools on the market today, some gadgets aren't very pratical for gardening, so be careful what you buy. You might also want to consider some fencing for your garden. Although not a tool, fencing will keep out any unwanted animals, thus making your garden easier to care for.
All these items can be purchased as the growing stages take place. No need to run out and buy these tools all at once.
